Hakata Gion Yamakasa 2014

I went to Yamakasa festival this morning.  It was a lot of fun!!

The festival involves 7 nagare – each group works together to carry (while running) a 1-ton float.  There is also a final float, much larger that is 2-tons. 

The video above is the 7th and final float.  Well, it was going to but I can’t upload video without paying, so now it’s a photo of one of the floats.  Today was a lot of fun, but now I’m exhausted.

I’m sure the participants are too.  But for them, participating in the festival is a good reason to take a day off.  Lucky.
